Camera Management

This page provides an overview of the various actions that can be taken to manage cameras in the VOLT portal.

Adding Cameras

Before adding cameras, please verify with the VOLT team that additional cameras can be added to your facility.

Steps to Add a Camera

  1. Navigate to the Camera List page for the desired facility.

  2. Click "Add Cameras" in the top right corner.

  3. Enter camera details manually or upload a CSV file using .

  4. Click "Save" to finalize addition.

RTSP URL not working?

  • Ensure the RTSP URL is structured correctly:

    rtsp://<username>:<password>@<ip_address>:554/<manufacturer-specific-path>

  • Verify the manufacturer-specific path in the camera’s documentation.

  • Test the RTSP URL using VLC Media Player via “Open Network Stream”.

  • If the camera is still offline, contact VOLT support.

Removing Cameras

To remove a camera from the system:

  1. Navigate to the Camera List page.

  2. Click the three-dot menu next to the camera you want to remove.

  3. Select "Delete" and confirm the deletion.

Editing Camera Settings

  1. Navigate to the Camera List page.

  2. Click on the camera you wish to edit.

  3. Scroll down to Settings and click Edit.

  4. Adjust desired parameters.

  5. Click "Test Connection" to see if a connection can be established.

  6. Click "Save" to apply changes.

Masking a Camera View

  1. Navigate to the Camera List page.

  2. Click the three-dot menu next to the camera you want to remove.

  3. Click "Mask".

  4. Create inclusion or exclusion masks for the set of rules you would like it to apply to.

  5. Click "Save" to apply your changes!

Viewing Camera Footage

To watch live video for a single camera, click the desired camera on the camera list page or map view page to expand into the live view.

To watch multiple live views on the camera list page, click the camera icon on the top left of each camera view you'd like to go live on.

To watch multiple live views on the map view page, click the camera you'd like to watch, then click the pin icon. Pin as many cameras as you'd like to view them live.

Watching historical video can be done on one camera at a time. To do this:

  1. Navigate to the Camera List or Map View page.

  2. Click on the desired camera to open its Live View.

  3. In the bottom left corner, click “View History”.

  4. Enter a specific date/time or use the timeline scrubber to locate the footage.

  5. Adjust the playback speed as needed to expedite your review.

Disabling Cameras

Disabling cameras temporarily stops all video recording and detections. To do this:

  1. Navigate to the desired facility.

  2. Click the menu icon (three stacked lines) on the top right.

  3. Select "Configuration".

  4. Click "Disable cameras", then choose the duration for which the recording and detections should be paused.

Exporting Camera Details

To export camera details:

  1. Navigate to the facility tab.

  2. Before clicking into a facility, click the 'Cameras' button on the top right of the facilities page.

  3. Click 'Export' to get a csv sheet of all camera information.
